....Welcome back into Year 11.....
Controlled Coursework.
This is it.... So Make it Count!!

Keeping all your photographs channeled to just one theme can really focus your mind, and with the current unknown as we have found ourselves, your idea and the work your present is even more crucial to the success of your Photography.

There are FOUR things I would like you to get to grips with...this will help you so much. We are in un-presidented time,s things can change and our circumstances can alter from one day to another. With this in mind make sure you consider the following.

Choose a subject that is accessible

Consistency is crucial
The more regularly you take photos, the quicker seeing and thinking like a photographer will become part of you. It’s just like going to the gym – regular consistent work results in the biggest overall impact.

"Creativity is a habit, and the best creativity is a result of good work habits. That’s it in a nutshell". – Twyla Tharp

Move out of your comfort zone
Step out of your comfort zone. "Comfort zones, where your unrealized dreams are buried, are the enemies of achievement." – Roy T. Bennett

It’s super easy to get in a rut with your photography – shooting similar subjects in similar ways. Telling yourself – this is what I’m good at shooting, or this is what I love doing. While I encourage you to really dive deep into a subject and develop your own style, make sure you are not using it to limit yourself.
Staying where you are comfortable in your photography is not where you are going to find yourself taking stunning, amazing photos. What you’ll be taking are photos that are just like the ones you took yesterday, last week, last year. Photographers need to keep developing and that often means pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

Now – get started!
"An idea that is developed and put into action is more important than an idea that exists only as an idea". – Edward de Bono

I am Stuck!!
Many documentary projects and images that photographers capture fall under CONTROVERSIAL photography. Either because the subject is hard to look at, or the story it tells is one that doesn’t fit with our own ideas of society.

This is your opportunity to show your skills and develop your own ideas base on a conceptual idea.

What is your CONCEPTUAL idea to be.....?
Your influences must be clear, artists research will provide ideas and techniques. Your own photos will provide raw material and be experimented upon where you will develop your ideas into a series of final outcomes..
Finally you will present a single fully developed piece or a series of pieces that conveys your concept with success , as well as your digital photography capability.

DEVELOP & REFINE
4. Now is the time to take your work and develop it with context. An image can speck a thousand words, but for it to be fully effective it has to engage with wider audience.
You are asked to translate your imagery onto
well composed Outcome. This could be one of many things, A magazine, LookBook, Poster etc.
Generate 3 different versions of your final piece, each time refining and reviewing, adding additional elements to improve the overall outcome
You are asked to refine your idea by developing your own peronal responce to the starting point. By experiementing in-depth you will refine your idea with an outcome in mind (A02 Experimentation & A04 Outcome).

Think carefully about both of these sections and how do you plan to show your progression responding to the starting point. Your idea for your final piece must be fully developed and refined to ensure the best mark is given.
DEVELOPMENT & REFINE
YOUR OUTCOME
Refine your final piece further by taking a series of 60 digital photographs exploring your starting point further. Meet up with friends and use them as your models. Take photographs in different locations - Woods, Beach etc., always take a camera with you where ever you go....
Take 30 photographs of textured surfaces to use as layers in your future exam Photoshop work. See examples Below....aim for 10 different surfaces (capture 4 images for each surface). Present in your physical or digital sketchbook.
Extension: Create a Behance and/or Flickr portfolio upload all your good images for your Coursework and some of your best coursework images. Screen shot the pages from your online portfolio and present this in your sketchbook.
