Popular culture is constantly evolving and occurs uniquely in place and time. It forms currents and eddies, and represents a complex of mutually interdependent perspectives and values that influence society and its institutions in various ways.
Learning Aim: you are required to develop ideas for a series of five manipulated images that are inspired by the work of another artist and the theme YOUTHHOOD.
You may wish to explore the idea of identity, Home, Family, Changing World, Environment, etc.
The first term in Year 10 you will engage in a series of workshops to develop the beginnings of your project where the work you produce will develop further into a personal response, presented as a series or a single final piece.

Workshop 1:
ARTIST: Miki Takahashi
​
Take a series of portraits in the studio and capture some landscape images outside school. Layer experiment with textured photos of trees or buildings in Photoshop onto a portrait to create a Multiple Exposure piece inspired by the artists and work of Miki Takahashi

Take a series of images in the studio exploring lighting and emotion through portraiture. Edit your images and begin to digitally collage images over the top of your portrait revealing parts of the face, present along side the artist and work of Katy Hirschfeld.

Workshop 9:
ARTIST: Freudenthal/Verhagen

Take a series of images in the studio or you may have taken some selfies. Take a series of portrait photos in the studio, edit your image and print. Using the polygonal tool in photoshop, select an area and slightly alter the levels, or move a fraction to offset the alignment. Alternatively print cut and collage, then scan and present. Experiment with shadows and inter locking pattern. Present along side the work of Freuenthal/Verhagen.
