This project connects still photography with motion to give the illusion that the viewer is watching an animation
As a new generation of artists you are asked to explore Cinemagraph and Gif through your ideas and work.

We are all familiar with using our phones, emails, etc to communicate visually, that one message that a Gif can sum up exactly what you're trying to say. You are able to express the emotion, an inside joke, or clever response you want to share. Visual communication using GIFs and emojis is second nature to us and now is a universal language.
So now its your turn to create a visual dialogue through the form of a Gif that engages with the audience and express one of the following key words.

1. Start pinning - create a new board and begin to collect visuals that inspire your own ideas and concepts for this project.
2. Explore the work of another person and link their work to your own ideas and concepts:

3. Respond to your initial research by planning and photographing the subject linked to your idea. This could be either in the studio or a series of images based in a natural setting, like a landscape.
Capture the subject of your choice - use the studio or plan and execute a well thought out shoot in a natural surrounding. This will provide you with the base to develop your Gif.

LO- Take your extended learning work or a landscape images to creat double exposure portraits in photoshop. Think carefully how the two images relate to each other, go further...make a triple or quadruple exposure!

Experiment with layer blending options to double expose your images together.
Extension- Use the selection tools to select only the face, refine the edge and put this on to a white background , then put the textile on top and overlay it to get something like this- What else could you do to make it more like the image?

LO- Transform a portrait to reveal a persons inner personality, emotion or feeling.

Take your initial portraits shoot and manipulate them by hand- Paint on top of glass, cut them up or draw on top. Find inspiration in these artists:

LO- Manipulate a portrait using digital pattern ​
Use geometee to create a pattern and screen grab the design, Alternatively you could select create a pattern using the Apps available on the iPad. Select the layer with the portrait, copy and then paste, repeat this several times in different areas. Experiment with the layers, Move the image around and adjust the colour/tone/brightness and levels etc.

Task: Select your favourite piece to date, and consider what your image may look like in a Gif format.

You are asked to edit one of your images through Photoshop animation.

You may wish to us purely colour, or select an area within your image that moves ever so slightly. Or maybe the whole piece moves as in the case of the example above.

Generate a Gif
1. Take your manipulated image into Photomosh - Click on the link above.

2. Go to Applications
and open up Quicktime.
You are asked to screen
record your moving
image.

to your favorite song,

3. Start Recording....
Click on new screen recording, Tap the red button, Select the area you are going to record...

Move to the website and start MOSHING! When you have finished you Gif, move your courser to the top of your menu and tap on the Black dot, This will stop your recording. Click save, name it and send it to the desk top.

5. You are asked to ensure that all work is presented in your sketchbook. Check your work, What does your neighbour think? (Written or Visual) What have you done. Is there anything that is missing that you need to complete or add your sketchbook.

Please make sure you annotate your work. Explain what you did, How did you create your pieces - explain process and techniques used. What new skills have you gain and how do you feel you have done this term. Finally set yourself three targets for the next project. What are theses?
